I graduated from Lake Norman Charter in Huntersville, NC, USA.
2. Where did you graduate from college? Name the school , city, state, and county where you received your academic credentials. Degrees and their majors/disciplines
I graduated from Catawba Valley Community College, Hickory NC, with an Associate’s in Science Degree then transferred to UNC Asheville in Asheville, NC as a D1 volleyball player, before I graduated with a B.S. in Biology from UNC Charlotte!

M.S. in Bioinformatics
4. Which GPSG goal are you most excited to help accomplish this year—and why?
Increase and maintain 95% usage of the Niner Engage platform among the 37 graduate student organizations. NinerEngage is an important resource that many students are missing out on. If we can increase our use and the prevalence of NinerEngage posts we can connect with more students who may otherwise be isolated.
5. What’s one thing in your bag/backpack right now that you probably shouldn’t admit to carrying around?
I have a bunch of assorted candy and snacks, I like to be prepared!
6. If you had to write your thesis/dissertation as a Netflix show, what would it be called?
“The Algorithm Did It”
The data said nothing. That’s when we knew it was hiding something.
7. What is one important thing that you believe every graduate student at UNC Charlotte should know?
Put yourself out there! Half the battle is getting started, once you have the momentum opportunities start to appear.
8. What's your go-to response when grad school gets overwhelming? (e.g., song, snack, strategy, or meme.)
When it gets overwhelming I like to put on noise-cancelling headphones and listen to emotional songs.
9. What’s one thing you wish someone had told you before starting grad school at UNC Charlotte?
You’ll find your people.
10. If your personality were the result of two famous people combining their traits, who would they be—and briefly, why?"
Hermione Granger and Kerri Walsh Jennings. I hope I embody Kerri’s resilience, teamwork, and competitive grit. I stay calm under pressure, push through setbacks, and strive to perform at a high level while uplifting the people around me. Hermione because of my curiosity, love of learning, preparedness, and strong moral compass.
11. Dream Job?
I would love a job adjacent to the medical field, as a bioinformatician or data scientist, where I can make a positive difference in the world.
