As Chief of Staff, I make sure the GPSG Leadership Team stays focused, connected, and accountable. This year, we have assigned a GPSG Leadership Team Liaison to each of UNC Charlotte’s 37 registered Graduate Student Organizations (GSOs). It’s my job to ensure that our team actively builds strong relationships with GSO leaders and follows up with them regularly. GSO leaders are often the closest touchpoint to our graduate student population—so we’re committed to showing up, listening more, and supporting better.
With that in mind, if you have not already done so, I am asking you to complete the GPSG Graduate Student Survey so that we know what your needs are as graduate students.
Your GPSG is an incredibly diverse network and has a variety of opportunities available to graduate students to get involved and further develop their leadership skills, campus community, and overall quality of life. Campus Committees are one of the more visible ways to get involved and have some fun! Feel free to click here to explore or Join Campus Committees.
In order to meet the commitments mentioned above, the GPSG is adopting three goals for the 2025-2026 academic year, and we would like your help in meeting them:
- 95% GSO attendance at monthly Senate meetings.
- 95% GSO participation in the Niner Engage+ App chat.
- Regular updates (at least twice per month) to each GSO’s Niner Engage page.
I won’t ask anyone to do something that I am unwilling to do myself; in that vein, your GPSG is leading by example and has updated its Niner Engage page from 2018 and will now be receiving regular updates.
We have registered our leadership team in the Graduate Student Chat on the Niner Engage+ App, providing you with direct access to GPSG. This is one of the fastest ways to be heard, even by the Chancellor!
Follow us, update your Niner Engage pages, and join the chat! The more you engage, the better we can represent all 6,200+ graduate students at UNC Charlotte.
We’ve got a big year ahead, including the Graduate Research Symposium on Monday, April 6, 2026, kicking off Graduate Student Appreciation Week (April 6–10). I can’t wait to work with all of you to make this a memorable year. Big things are coming, and I’m proud to help lead the charge.
Let’s Go Niners!
