GRS 2024

General GRS Information:

The annual Graduate Research Symposium (GRS) is an interdisciplinary graduate student-run conference that showcases astounding research of graduate and professional students. The theme of GRS is Learning Across Disciplines. Such encompasses presentations from various areas of study within graduate certificate, master’s, and doctoral programs. We encourage all graduate students who are conducting or have concluded research to present at the GRS.

Presenting affords students the opportunity to share findings, gain experience in presenting scholarly research, and represent our various graduate programs. An additional incentive to all participants is the option to have your presentation judged by an multidisciplinary panel of faculty and expert judges for a monetary prize. We hope to have over 100 presentations this year!

The Graduate Research Symposium is sponsored by the Graduate & Professional Student Government of UNC Charlotte and the Division of Research. Over the years, GRS has been supported by the Dean and staff of The Graduate School and The Thomas L. Reynolds Center For Graduate Life and Learning. We are grateful for past sponsorship and support and continue to welcome additional support annually.

All students whose abstracts are accepted for presentation in the Annual Graduate Research Symposium are eligible to compete for a monetary award in their respective category.

Faculty and expert judges grade presentations in the following areas:

  • Oral Presentation
    • Knowledge of Topic
    • Organization and Approach
    • Vocal and Physical Delivery
    • Clarity of Lay Person
    • Originality and Applications of the Work
  • Poster Presentation
    • Research Content
    • Presentation
    • Poster Appearance

Monetary awards will be presented at the Awards Reception at the conclusion of the Graduate Research Symposium

We invite you to view past years' programs.
