According to the Constitution of the Graduate and Professional Student Government, the organization is required to maintain an elected Executive Board to serve as representatives of the graduate student body.
The GPSG Executive Board is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization, including event management, funding GSOs, chartering GSOs, and hosting events like the annual Graduate Research Symposium (GRS). The GPSG Executive Board also hosts regular Senate meetings throughout the academic year.
It is the responsibility of the Executive Board to meet regularly with their graduate student colleagues to gain a better understanding of the challenges faced by graduate students across disciplines. Executive Board members serve on various University committees to provide a voice to the interests of graduate students. Executive Board members travel to conferences and other UNC System schools to gain new insights into graduate student life and governance.
The GPSG Executive Board was created following the 1998-99 petition to the Student Government Association to create GPSG. While certain positions have varied, the GPSG Executive Board has always consisted of a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Chief of Staff, and Chief Technology Officer.
