Berina Rucic
1. Where did you graduate from high school? I graduated from Independence High School in Charlotte, NC.
2. Where did you graduate from college? I actually have not finished my Bachelor’s Degree yet! I will be graduating in December with my B.A. in History and B.A. in English. (Early Entry Graduate Student)
3. What are your current UNC Charlotte academic major/majors? I’m dually pursuing my B.A. in History and English while working towards my M.A. in History.
4. Which GPSG goal are you most excited to help accomplish this year—and why? I’m excited to try and increase attendance at the GPSG Senate Meetings!
5. What’s one thing in your bag/backpack right now that you probably shouldn’t admit to carrying around? I always carry around a sewing kit- it’s come in handy one too many times.
6. If you had to write your thesis/dissertation as a Netflix show, what would it be called? Never Forgive, Never Forget
7. What is one important thing that you believe every graduate student at UNC Charlotte should know? Your end goal will never depend on one effort, it’s always a balance.
8. What's your go-to response when grad school gets overwhelming? Friends! Being around people who are in the same situation as me helps me feel so much less overwhelmed.
9. What’s one thing you wish someone had told you before starting grad school at UNC Charlotte? How different it is from Undergrad!
10. If your personality were the result of two famous people combining their traits, who would they be—and briefly, why? I’d say Svetlana Alexievich and Emma Watson. I resonate with Emma Watson’s outward personality a lot, while I’ve always taken a lot of inspiration from Alexievich’s work.
11. In one sentence, what does “leadership” mean to you as a grad student? Taking initiative, guiding with purpose, and empowering others while staying committed
to integrity, learning, and impact.
